Prague will host one of the biggest sporting events of 2026. From March 24 to 29, 2026, the World Figure Skating Championships will take place at Prague’s O2 arena, bringing the best figure skaters from around the world to the Czech capital.

Fans can look forward to several days full of top-level athletic performances, emotions, elegance on ice, and an unforgettable atmosphere. Representatives from dozens of countries will come to Prague to compete for the prestigious world champion title.

The World Figure Skating Championships Return to Prague After 33 Years

The World Figure Skating Championships are returning to Prague after 33 years. The event was last held here in 1993, so Czech fans will once again have the opportunity to see the world’s best figure skaters perform on home ice.

When and where will the championship take place?

The 2026 World Figure Skating Championships will be held at Prague’s O2 arena, one of the largest and most modern multi-purpose venues in Europe.

The O2 arena has a capacity of approximately 18,000 spectators and regularly hosts major sporting and cultural events. Thanks to its modern facilities and excellent transport accessibility, it is an ideal venue for hosting a world championship.

World Figure Skating Championships Prague 2026 Program

The championship will begin on Tuesday, March 24, with official practices, during which competitors will try the ice at the O2 arena for the first time. The actual competitions will start on Wednesday. The schedule is divided by discipline to make it attractive for both domestic and international audiences.

The women’s singles and pairs competitions will open the event on Wednesday with their short programs. The men will compete on Thursday, and the ice dance event will begin on Friday.

When will the medals be decided?

The first world medals will be awarded on Thursday evening, when the pairs will compete for the world title in the program starting at 6:15 PM. On Friday from 6:00 PM, the winners in the women’s category will be decided, with the 24 best female figure skaters in the world competing for the title.

On Saturday from 12:30 PM, the men’s free skates are scheduled, one of the most watched disciplines in modern figure skating. The competition part of the World Championships will conclude with Saturday evening’s ice dance event, which has been one of the most successful Czech figure skating disciplines in recent years.

Gala Exhibition

After the competition ends, fans can look forward to the traditional Sunday gala of champions, during which the best skaters of the championship will perform in exhibition programs.

Tickets for the World Figure Skating Championships in Prague

Tickets for the World Championships are on sale through Ticketportal and Ticketmaster. Prices start at approximately CZK 790 for the short programs, while tickets for the final programs deciding the world medals are available from CZK 1,290.

For one purchase, it is possible to buy:

up to 6 tickets for individual competitions
up to 4 all-event tickets (for the entire championship) via Ticketportal

Fans can therefore choose whether they want to attend only a selected discipline or watch the full championship program.

How to get to the O2 arena

The O2 arena is located in Prague 9 and is very easy to reach by public transport.

The easiest way to get there is by Metro Line B – Českomoravská station, which is just a few minutes’ walk from the arena.

Several tram lines also stop near the O2 arena, connecting this part of the city with the center.

If you are arriving in Prague by car, you can use the parking garages near the arena or parking at the adjacent shopping center.

If you are planning to attend the World Championships, it is worth arranging your accommodation well in advance. Major sporting events bring thousands of visitors to Prague.
