Winter in Prague is one of the most beautiful times of the year — the city smells of mulled wine, glows with Christmas markets, and is full of Advent magic that both kids and adults will love. One of the long-standing winter traditions is ice skating, offering romance, fun, and a bit of sport. Whether you’re looking for a cosy rink by the Vltava, a large ice surface for children, or a unique rooftop skate at a shopping centre, we’ve prepared an overview of the TOP 10 most beautiful ice rinks in Prague for the upcoming season. Each has its own atmosphere, size, and opening hours — you just need to pick the right one.

1. Letná Ice Rink – one of the largest in Prague

Letná Plain hosts one of the biggest and most popular outdoor ice rinks in Prague every year. The 40 × 20 m rink offers plenty of space even at busy times, so beginners, children, and more experienced skaters can all enjoy it. The open setting of Letná gives the place a pleasant, airy atmosphere and beautiful views of the surroundings.

You’ll find skate rental and other equipment on site, facilities for children, and refreshments where you can grab a hot drink or a sweet treat to warm up. Another big plus is the easy access.

Opening hours: daily 9:00–21:00
Season: from 15 November until the end of winter.

2. Petra Ice Rink – romantic skating right on the Vltava

One of the most romantic rinks in Prague is located directly on the Vltava River. At the popular riverside promenade (Náplavka) by Rašín Embankment, the historic boat Petra docks and transforms into a unique floating ice rink in winter. You can skate just a few metres from the river and enjoy stunning views of Prague Castle, Náplavka, and the illuminated surroundings — the evening atmosphere here is truly special.

There’s a skate rental with a wide range of sizes and accessories, plus small refreshments on board. Nearby you’ll also find heated indoor areas, cafés, and stalls where you can warm up after skating.

Opening hours: Mon–Thu 14:00–21:00, Fri 14:00–22:00, weekends 10:00–21:00
Season: from 29 November to 28 February 2026.

3. Vypich Ice Rink – spacious skating by Hvězda Park

The rink at Vypich is a favourite winter sports spot mainly thanks to its location near Hvězda Park, where the atmosphere is calm and pleasant. The ice surface is spacious, suitable for beginners and advanced skaters alike, and offers ideal conditions for families with children and recreational skaters.

Around the rink you’ll find room to relax, changing facilities, and a small refreshment stand for hot drinks or a snack. Skate rental is usually available too, so you can enjoy skating even without your own equipment.

Thanks to its location on the edge of Prague, it also tends to be less crowded than rinks in the city centre.

Opening hours: usually daily 9:00–21:00
Season: from 28 November until the end of winter.

4. Výstaviště Holešovice Ice Rink

The rink at Výstaviště in Holešovice has long been one of the most popular winter skating spots in Prague, especially for families with children. It offers a spacious, regularly maintained ice surface that’s great for beginners as well as more experienced skaters. With modern facilities, a friendly atmosphere, and frequent accompanying events, you can enjoy a pleasant afternoon — or a full winter day.

In addition to public skating, thematic programmes, competitions, and kids’ days are held here regularly. On site you’ll find refreshments (hot drinks and small snacks) and a skate rental with equipment for both children and adults.

Opening hours: every Saturday and Sunday 15:15–17:15
Season: from 5 October until the end of winter.

5. Galerie Harfa – rooftop skating

This is one of the most interesting ice rinks in Prague. The Roof Top Ice Arena on the roof of Galerie Harfa offers a unique experience you won’t find elsewhere in the city. You can skate outdoors with a direct view of the O₂ arena. It’s popular with families, couples, and recreational skaters who want a pleasant atmosphere and well-maintained ice.

The rink measures approximately 30 × 20 m, which provides plenty of space even at busier times. There’s skate rental for children and adults, so you can come even without your own skates. Refreshment stalls offer hot chocolate, mulled wine, or a small snack. A big advantage is convenient parking right at the shopping centre.

Opening hours: Mon–Fri 14:00–19:00, Sat 13:00–21:00, Sun 13:00–19:00
Season: from 28 November to 28 February 2026.

6. Arkády Pankrác – popular rink in front of the shopping centre

Arkády Pankrác combines shopping, easy access, and winter fun. Right in front of the shopping centre you’ll find an outdoor rink that’s among the most accessible in Prague. With regularly maintained ice, a pleasant setting, and full facilities, it’s ideal for beginners, families with children, and recreational skaters.

The 30 × 18 m rink is open daily from morning to evening and operates in all weather, making it a reliable choice even on less pleasant winter days. On site there is skate rental, equipment maintenance/service facilities, and a wide selection of refreshments — perfect for a hot drink or a sweet treat after skating.

Another major plus is the excellent transport connection: the rink is right next to Pankrác metro station, and parking in the shopping centre is convenient for visitors arriving by car.

Opening hours: daily (including weekends) 9:00–21:00
Season: from 28 November to 28 February 2026.

Ice is maintained depending on temperatures, but it usually operates from early December.

Gutovka is perfect for families with children, beginners, and recreational skaters. It offers a safe, partially covered space, heated changing rooms, and the option to borrow aids for small skaters — supports, frames, and similar helpers. The vibe is friendly and relaxed.

Opening hours: Mon–Fri 15:00–17:00, weekends 10:00–21:00
Season: approximately from 5 December.

8. Chodov Ice Rink – modern, comfortable, and great for families

The ice surface (almost 500 m²) has an unusual circular shape, allowing smooth skating and a great experience for complete beginners as well as advanced skaters. Thanks to its size and shape, it’s easy to navigate, safe, and suitable even for small children.

The place is known for high-quality ice, excellent facilities, and a welcoming family atmosphere. You’ll find skate rental, children’s skating aids, skate sharpening, and refreshments right next to the rink. And because it’s at a shopping centre, it’s perfect for combining shopping, fun, and relaxation in one trip.

Another big advantage is transport accessibility: the rink is right by Metro Line C – Chodov, and the mall offers plenty of parking.

Opening hours: Mon–Thu 9:00–20:00. Fri, weekends, and during Christmas holidays 9:00–21:00. Exceptions: 24 Dec 9:00–14:00, 31 Dec 9:00–16:00.

9. Karlínské náměstí – smaller but very cosy

If you prefer quieter, less crowded places, the ice rink at Karlínské náměstí is a great choice. The 30 × 15 m rink is set in the pleasant courtyard of Karlínské Spektrum, with an intimate atmosphere and much less rush than the larger Prague rinks. It’s ideal for casual skating, first attempts on the ice, or a relaxed family morning with kids.

Opening hours: Mon–Fri 10:00–21:00. Weekends 10:00–18:00.

That makes for a completely different skating experience for adults, children, and total beginners.

The area includes a stage with sound system and colourful lighting, creating a magical atmosphere in the late afternoon and evening. It’s a great spot not only for families, but also for community events, school trips, or an original date.

Skate rental is usually available on site, along with helmets, skating aids, “duck” supports for children, and storage lockers (keys can be picked up directly at the rental).
