The \u017di\u017ekov Television Tower in Prague is one of the city’s most significant landmarks. It is part of the \u017di\u017ekov hill area and ranks among the best-known public structures in the Czech Republic. The \u0160i\u0161ka lookout tower is located in the popular Prague park Ladronka. It is one of the most original structures in the area, as it was built from an old tank. It appeared in Prague 6 in 2020, making it a relatively new excursion spot in Prague that is well worth visiting. It is a low tower of approximately 11 metres in height, but it definitely has the potential to become a popular tourist attraction. At the top there is a small platform and viewpoint, and if you are lucky enough to have a clear sky, you can see as far as Prague 5.<\/p>\n
Doubravka lookout tower was opened to the public in 2018, but it has already been through a lot. It has welcomed not only thousands of visitors, but unfortunately also suffered a fire in 2019. However, the tower was repaired and continues to serve as a destination for tourist trips. It is located in the \u010cihadla Nature Park in Prague 14. If you are a fan of both nature and architecture, you will definitely enjoy this place. The structure consists of three massive legs made of bent acacia wood. Its summit platform, at a height of 20 metres, is reached by climbing 98 steps. The top of the tower is decorated with a weather vane three and a half metres high. It is truly worth seeing, both the Doubravka XIV tower itself and the beautiful view from it.<\/p>\n
Pet\u0159\u00edn Lookout Tower is best known for resembling the Eiffel Tower. It measures just under 60 metres and stands at an altitude of 324 metres above sea level. Tourists and Prague residents have been climbing it regularly since 1891. There are many steps to the top, but fortunately there is also a lift that takes you to the observation cabin at a height of 51 metres. Pet\u0159\u00edn is one of the places in Prague you simply cannot miss. While you are on the hill, the \u0160tef\u00e1nik Observatory<\/a> is worth a stop too.<\/p>\n
The Pet\u0159\u00edn funicular was damaged in September 2024 by extreme rainfall, which was followed by a complete reconstruction of the track and a replacement of the cars. Service resumed on 22 September 2026<\/strong>, when the Prague Public Transit Company began trial operation with passengers. The new fourth-generation cars are more glazed than their predecessors, so the view over Prague starts on the way up.<\/p>\n\n

Vy\u0161ehrad, situated on a rocky promontory above the Vltava River, attracts visitors with its ancient fortress and charming corners. The two Neo-Gothic towers of the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul at Vy\u0161ehrad dominate Prague’s skyline. From the Vy\u0161ehrad rock, there is an impressive view of Prague that dazzles both by day and by night. In Doln\u00ed Po\u010dernice, not far from the V p\u00edskovn\u011b nature reserve, stands the smallest lookout tower in Prague. This wooden structure with a sandstone base has only seven steps leading up to it. From this tiny lookout tower, there is an unexpected view of the surrounding nature reserve, the Rokytka valley, the U \u010ce\u0148ku recreational park, the Xaverovsk\u00fd h\u00e1j natural monument, and the large \u010cern\u00fd Most housing estate. It is an ideal place for rest and walks along well-maintained paths. It also offers benches where you can sit, relax, and enjoy an endless sense of peace and calm.<\/p>\n
Letn\u00e1 Park is not just a place for picnics and relaxation, but also offers a unique view of Prague’s historic centre and Charles Bridge<\/a>. This viewpoint was created in 2020 on Letn\u00e1 Plain between the Hanavsk\u00fd Pavilion and the site of the former Stalin monument. The location was enhanced with an elegant wooden observation platform with a protective railing, allowing visitors to enjoy the view comfortably while also protecting the slope from further degradation, which had unfortunately been extensive in previous years.<\/p>\n
The Pleten\u00e1 lookout tower is located in the courtyard of Karl\u00edn Barracks in Prague 8. In fact, it is a sculpture by the sculptor \u010cestm\u00edr Su\u0161ka, and it is completely unique in that it does not provide views of the wider surroundings. Because its height does not exceed the surrounding buildings, it offers views only into the inner courtyard, where there is a playground, a fire pit, and benches for relaxation. The tower is only 7 metres high and is freely accessible to the public.<\/p>\n
Thomayer Viewpoint on V\u00edtkov Hill is a gazebo that adorns the north-western part of the hill. In 2022, this gazebo underwent extensive renovation and became a resting place with an unusual view of Prague. It serves as an important landmark in the western part of V\u00edtkov, where there is a very dense network of walking paths. The gazebo is an ideal place to relax while also offering an unusual view of Karl\u00edn, Hole\u0161ovice, and other surrounding districts in the northern part of Prague.<\/p>\n
In 2012, the academic sculptor \u010cestm\u00edr Su\u0161ka transformed a discarded ten-metre iron fuel tank into an interesting lookout tower and a work of art called Skulptura<\/em>. Since 2014, together with other metal objects, it has stood at the top of the Botanical Garden in Prague’s Troja district. The tower opens up a view of Prague’s beautiful panorama, with major landmarks such as the \u017di\u017ekov Tower, Pet\u0159\u00edn, Hrad\u010dany, and the former Hotel International.<\/p>\n
Strahov Monastery is better known for its library and brewery, but it also offers a beautiful view of Prague and the green valley below. At the foot of Strahov Monastery there is a small vineyard with a picturesque viewpoint, which forms an integral part of the extensive gardens of this historic place. From here, you can enjoy a wonderful view over a large part of Prague, making it a popular place for relaxation and sightseeing.<\/p>\n
In Prague’s Mod\u0159any district, a new observation structure called Sofie Lookout Tower appeared near the passageway in 2020. This tower was created as part of the reconstruction of Sofijsk\u00e9 Square. The viewpoint offers views of the new Prague 12 Town Hall, the U Dubu and Hyacint residential complexes, and the Na Ber\u00e1nku housing estate. The total height of the tower is 12.5 metres.<\/p>\n
In the Garden on the Ramparts, you will find beautiful views. One of the most popular places in this garden is an impressive semicircular viewpoint that offers a breathtaking view of Prague’s historic centre. This viewpoint was built in 1924 and 1925 and still attracts visitors with its charm and unique panorama. As you enter the viewpoint area, you will see a stone pyramid and many more beautiful views stretching far into the distance.<\/p>\n
On the eastern slope above the Vltava rises the ruin called Baba, a remnant of the past with uncertain origins but with a stunning view of Prague. The ruin stands on the edge of the Prague district of Baba, next to Hanspaulka. It is illuminated at night, so you can enjoy the beauty of the view even in the evening. A railway line runs below the viewpoint towards the town of Kralupy nad Vltavou. If you look across to the other bank, you may even spot animals from Prague Zoo.<\/p>\n
\u0158et\u011bzovka lookout tower in Radot\u00edn near Prague has a total height of 8 metres, with the observation platform situated 5 metres above the ground. One of the unique metal lookout towers created by sculptor \u010cestm\u00edr Su\u0161ka found its place near Prague\u2013Radot\u00edn railway station. The tower is based on two discarded tanks originally used for storing wine and coming from Hodon\u00edn. These were transformed into a unique lookout tower with openings shaped like bicycle chain links, which gave it the name the \u0158et\u011bzovka cycling lookout tower.<\/p>\n
Dobe\u0161ka Viewpoint, a 2-metre-high wooden structure, stands in the Dobe\u0161ka forest park on top of the Bran\u00edk rocks. It is accessible by public transport, cycle paths, and walking routes at any time. From this viewpoint, you can admire a variety of scenery well worth the climb. To the north, the impressive silhouette of Prague Castle and Hrad\u010dany dominates the horizon, with Pet\u0159\u00edn Tower and Vy\u0161ehrad visible in the distance. To the south, you can see as far as Prague\u2013Bran\u00edk railway station and the local brewery, while directly below the viewpoint you will notice Barrandov Bridge and nearby Bran\u00edk Bridge, two of the bridges that connect Prague across the Vltava<\/a>. To the south-west rises the Cukr\u00e1k transmitter, while to the west there is a picturesque view of Prokop Valley and the housing estates of Barrandov.<\/p>\n
Skalka lookout tower near Vy\u017elovka rises on a hill close to the highest point of the village of Vy\u017elovka. It offers views from an altitude of approximately 455 metres and, under favourable conditions, provides an impressive panorama of the wider area. From this height, it is possible to see distant peaks such as Mile\u0161ovka, \u0158\u00edp, Vlho\u0161\u0165, Bezd\u011bz, Ralsko, Je\u0161t\u011bd, Sn\u011b\u017eka, and the ridges of the Orlick\u00e9 Mountains. The tower itself reaches a total height of 25 metres, allowing visitors to rise above the landscape and enjoy endless panoramic views.<\/p>\n

Opy\u0161 Viewpoint is located within the Prague Castle grounds near the Southern Gardens. It is one of the lesser-known viewpoints in the city centre, yet it offers one of the most beautiful views of the Vltava River and the Lesser Town. From here, you can also clearly see Charles Bridge<\/a>, Kampa Island, and the historic rooftops of old Prague. Thanks to its location directly within the Prague Castle complex, it is an easily accessible spot that is worth a short stop during a walk around the castle grounds.<\/p>\n
Paruk\u00e1\u0159ka Park on Holy Cross Hill in Prague’s \u017di\u017ekov district is a popular place for walks, picnics, and sports. Kaz\u00edn Viewpoint is located on a rocky promontory above the Vltava River on the southern edge of Prague in the Radot\u00edn area.
